Do you find yourself wondering if you are getting your body’s optimal output out of your pumping sessions? Does your nipples hurt when you are pumping or after you are done pumping? Do you get bleeding or blistered nipples from pumping? Do you notice your nipples seem to be suctioned into your flanges weird or what appears to appear to be incorrect when pumping? Do you have a low output of breast milk when pumping from one or both breasts? Or are you simply curious if you are using the correct size flange, even though things seem to be just fine and your output seems optimal?
You are not alone! I myself have had those questions in my multiple pumping journeys. I knew that I could reach out to lactation consultants and ask for help. But, honestly, I was intimidated at the idea of the possible costs and time involved. I honestly really didn’t have really any time to spare and I didn’t want to feel silly going to a lactation consultant since I was pumping enough milk. There is also doing research to find one and wondering if insurance would pay. There were just a lot of reasons that kept me from going. I had wished there was a way I could reach out to ask someone who really could help me with out me having to go out of my way or have any possible additional expenses, especially if they were just going to tell me they didn’t see a problem. Or worse, make me feel dumb for my mistakes. Yes, sometimes professionals can lack people skills and it’s embarrassing to the clients. Which is why I mentioned the whole having to research for a lactation consultant before just going to a random person.
You could imagine my joy when I learned about Savethemilk.com’s breast pumping consultant. Crystal is a pumping mom too, who is an advocate for the breast milk pumping and donating community. She created the FaceBook group, Save the Milk, to help donor and recipient moms become aware of scammers in the breast milk donation community to stop the scammers from their schemes. Just like Happy Bellies, Happy Babies Crystal wants the breast milk donation community to be as safe as possible for these amazing moms and families. After leading this group and helping many moms to be safe, aware and educated on breast milk donating safe practices she discovered a great need for an easier and comfortable way to help moms to find their correct flange size.
